Hullo,
The final photo shows Horst P. Horst as a young man on the left, not sure about the woman though
Beaton was a creative genius in my view, also of self invention. If you haven’t read them get your hands on his diaries. He knew everyone, and had decided opinions too. Best to read the unexpurgated diaries published within the last 10 years, as the earlier expurgated ones where rather tamed down by the publishers. I have been collecting his diaries for years, also his books on other subjects such as Glass of Fashion, My Royal Past, etc.
I’ve turned into a real Beaton fan after his memoirs published in the 50’s. Amazing style and maybe a better writer than photographer. I have a lot more to read of his stuff (bought at Argosy books for nickles and dimes) and appreicate your photos and post.
Love the Life picture from 1937. The lady he is with subsequently married I believe Sacheverell Sitwell the youngest of the three Sitwells. Note the cuffs on his striped pants. Not one of his better ideas.
